About me and weltwaerts:
I am 19 years old, about 1,97 metres tall and currently a "weltwaerts" volunteer in Yunnan Province, China.
"Weltwaerts" is a programme by a German ministry supporting voluntary work for young adults in developing countries. There is a broad range of organizations that offer different places of assignment in nearly all fields of work.
So you could for example help build a primary school in Costa Rica, work in a medical centre in India, or in my case teach English in a less developed region of China.
What do I do in 六库 (Liuku)?
My co-volunteer and I currently live and work in the Lai Mao Zhong Xue (赖茂中学) which is a combined Middle- and Highschool with about 2000 students. From monday to Friday each of us teaches 2 classes every evening, wednesday is free though. Since our classes only start at 7:30 pm we have got the whole day to ourselves. In this time we prepare the lessons, do project work (wich I will cover later) or meet the other 12 volunteers who work in different schools in Liuku.
In addition to that, to learn Chinese I attend the first 4 classes of the close by primary school every morning.
Projects
We are now the sixth generation of volunteers in Liuku and our predecessors have launched quite a few projects to tackle some of the problems they saw here.
Évidemment, il n y a pas encore de quoi sur moi ici, mais je m'en occuperais dans les prochains jours.
